The Solution - Testosterone Treatment

The Andropause, or Male Menopause, is a very treatable condition, and Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) has been shown to be dramatically effective in safely relieving symptoms and restoring drive, health, potency, and a sense of renewed vitality and virility when given to the right patients in the right doses at the right time. When used in conjunction with Viagra Cialis or Levitra, can also bring the success rate with erection problems to over 95%.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy
To ensure its safety and effectiveness however it is essential that a full assessment of each patient is carried out before testosterone replacement is started, and that the results of treatment are carefully monitored. For this purpose careful history-taking and a detailed clinical examination need to be carried out, initially, and at 3 - 6 monthly intervals while treatment continues. Both to establish the diagnosis and to monitor the treatment carefully, biochemical measurements of the sex hormones and the complex range of factors regulating their action, together with tests of blood fats, liver, kidney, and prostate function, and changes in red and white blood cells, all need to be checked before treatment and at each follow-up visit TRT treatment is usually given by testosterone gel, cream or long-acting injections. TRT treatment has been in use for over half a century, and has a remarkably good safety record over that time, as confirmed by the detailed studies at this centre. However, every effort is made to exclude pre-existing prostatic cancer, by clinical examination, and a sensitive blood test the Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), followed by ultrasound examination if needed.

Safety

TRT has had a bad press due largely to concerns about abuse and over-dosage in athletes, and alleged dangerous effects on the prostate gland, heart and liver. The answer to these concerns in brief is that though different forms of testosterone treatment have been widely used for over 60 years, all the most up to date research is confirming the basic safety and effectiveness of testosterone treatment when correctly applied in the medical setting. The essential full work-up before any man starts on testosterone treatment is designed specifically to exclude prostate problems. This on-going screening means that the patient on testosterone knows that he does not have prostate cancer. The latest evidence shows not only no increase in his chances of getting it with testosterone treatment, but that death rates from the condition are reduced by regular screening with the PSA and other tests. Male HRT with testosterone is actually being shown to protect the heart and circulation, and reduce the risk factors for arterial degeneration. Also, there is a wealth of recent research showing that up-to-date preparations such as Restandol and Testogel, are safe for both heart and liver.

Promoting Potency

Potency Problems (Erectile Dysfunction), together with loss of se
x-drive (libido), are common and distressing features of Andropause, which, if prolonged, can cause the break-up of relationships.

Research at the Men's Health Centre has shown that in around two thirds of cases, by treating the underlying andropause condition, testosterone can restore both libido and potency. In the remaining third, our studies on over 500 patients have shown that combining testosterone with Viagra (Sildenafil) brings the success rate with erection problems to over 95%.

The newer oral treatments such as Cialis (Tadalafil) and Levitra (Vardenafil) have also been introduced and appear to have less side effects than Viagra. Cialis appears to be particularly effective, and often has an effect which can improve erectile function for 2 - 3 days, and fully restore natural sexual activity.
